In the nonprofit sector, driving meaningful change often requires innovative solutions and strategic support. Dr. April Willis has developed a unique, two-pronged approach through her work with April Willis Consulting (AWC) and the National Nonprofit Collaborative (NNC). Her mission? To help nonprofit leaders and organizations across the United States navigate their path to success and sustainability by providing targeted resources and comprehensive support.

The idea behind Dr. Willis’s approach came from frequent discovery calls with nonprofit leaders who were eager to make progress but lacked the financial resources to hire a consultant. She realized there had to be a way to bridge this gap—how could her team support nonprofits in a scalable manner when funding was limited? That’s when the National Nonprofit Collaborative (NNC) was born.

Through NNC, Dr. Willis developed a resource library filled with tools her team would typically use with consulting clients. Rather than simply providing services, the NNC empowers nonprofits by equipping them with the resources needed to succeed, enabling them to take ownership of their growth. With this model, nonprofits receive the guidance of expert consultants but are responsible for executing the deliverables. It’s a win-win that provides nonprofits the tools and autonomy to grow and thrive with the support of AWC’s expertise.

April Willis Consulting (AWC): Turning Visions into Reality

Founded in 2018, AWC is a full-service consulting firm based in North Texas. With a team of nine leaders across the country, AWC specializes in grant writing, financial planning, human resources management, board development, and leadership coaching.

AWC partners with clients to create strategic plans, optimize marketing and PR efforts, and enhance operational systems to overcome barriers and unlock potential. The firm’s core values—integrity, excellence, service, and joy—are central to its commitment to helping clients achieve their goals. Through AWC, Dr. Willis has built a strong network of nonprofit leaders who can rely on her team’s expertise to navigate complex challenges and elevate their organizations to new heights.

The National Nonprofit Collaborative (NNC): A Digital Arsenal for Nonprofit Leaders

Recognizing the diverse needs of nonprofits, Dr. Willis founded the National Nonprofit Collaborative (NNC) as a subscription-based service designed to support nonprofit professionals. For just $7 a month, NNC members gain access to a wealth of resources, including templates, guidebooks, and ready-made materials aimed at reducing administrative burdens and increasing organizational efficiency.

The NNC’s drip-release system ensures that new subscribers receive immediate access to foundational resources, with additional content rolled out each month. Resources cover a range of topics, including board development, communications, fundraising, volunteer management, and policy advocacy. Each tool is carefully curated to simplify nonprofit operations and drive impact across the organization’s staff, board, and stakeholders.

Empowering Nonprofits for Long-Term Success

With time, resources, and expertise often in short supply, Dr. Willis’s two-pronged approach through AWC and NNC provides critical support for nonprofit leaders. Together, these platforms give organizations the tools they need to meet today’s challenges and create lasting, positive change. Dr. Willis’s ongoing mission is to help nonprofits across the country achieve their objectives, improve the quality of life for the populations they serve, and elevate their impact on the world.
