What is a proper business philosophy in the world of fitness? For Ovi Ilica, founder of OviPhysiques, business philosophy is synonymous with client success. Ovi is a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist with a growing fitness brand; the growth can only be accredited to Ovi’s philosophy, which revolves around the client. He loves his work, and gets inspired from every bit of mastery over his craft he gains. From day one, Ovi’s work as a trainer takes into account what a client is good at, or their strengths, so he can build up from there. He’s found out from his own experience that negative motivation is short term and unhelpful, so he looks to cultivate habits that help in the long term with OviPhysiques.

He saw the worst of the fitness industry when he joined—so many products, diets, and trainers that claimed to be able to ‘fix’ your weight or fitness problem. From the outset, that’s an incorrect approach. It’s unhealthy to see your weight or other measure of shape as a problem or obstacle, and it’s better to view yourself as someone with the potential for even greater fitness. Instead of following the whims of protein bars, powders, pills, salads, videos, and fat burning blogs, exercisers should take into serious account what they like about fitness so they can go from there. What long-term success can you imagine if you see your body fat as a curse? Rather, take a strength like the love of your local basketball team, and use it to your advantage. Take yourself out to the park and play! Even small choices like this recondition your brain to see the benefits of looking at your happiness in the long term, and you’ll see more confidence. Ovi personally goes over every client’s view of their failures so he can see if they’re trapped in a negative motivation cycle, and he helps them correct it with progressive regimentation. As far as practical steps, Ovi’s Nutrition Specialist Certification puts him in the right place to advise you on what to eat, which is every healthy ingredient you need. He shuns the idea of eating less as a program, when instead trainers should focus on getting their clients to eat more of the healthy stuff.

Ovi has competed in seven Men’s Physique bodybuilding shows, including the NPC Nationals. He’s coached over 7,500 classes for Orangetheory Fitness as a dual head coach and regional manager, and he’s written over 800 fitness programs for clients he’s trained. One of the biggest challenges he faced before this current bout of fitness was in the job market. Laid off from two jobs years ago, he felt lost, angry, and depressed. However, he dug deeper into his fitness passion with a desire to inspire his son to follow any career he wanted. He created an LLC and started working for himself. This experience taught Ovi the core values of resilience and adaptability, and he used a strength—the love for his family—to get him regimented. Since then, he’s built up his brand with community engagement and an appearance on The Blox, a reality show for upcoming entrepreneurs.

When the business reaches new stages of growth and popularity, Ovi wants to hire more coaches. He’s developed a concrete philosophy so he can integrate new professionals into his brand and help change more lives than just his own clients. His bottom line is seeing and facilitating positive changes in clients. If new coaches aren’t willing to work extensively with clients to find exactly how they can uplift their fitness journey, they are best suited elsewhere. OviPhysiques will develop into a name that people can trust referring a friend or family member to if they want to change their mind and body. Nothing beats the reward of seeing someone who came on session one behind a thick guard of anxiety and insecurity blossom into someone who realized that they could do it all along, and Ovi has worked hard to make sure all clients can get there. OviPhysiques was created so Ovi could show his son in depth that everyone can do what they put their mind to. It’s the ability to stay consistent that will provide you with the most realization power, and good trainers are meant to help you along the way.
