In the heart of Portland’s vibrant Belmont District lies La Patroncita, a modern Mexican restaurant and bar that offers a chic, pink-hued ambiance that perfectly complements its authentic Mexican cuisine and vibrant cocktails.

The soul behind La Patroncita is Lucy De León, a proud Latina businesswoman whose culinary journey began at the tender age of seven as a migrant worker in the fields. These early experiences instilled in her the values of perseverance and resilience. Years later, her parents established Tortilleria y Tienda De León’s, a grocery store and deli in Northeast Portland, focusing on crafting authentic and flavorful Mexican food. Lucy eventually took over the family business, relocating it to Southeast Portland under the name Salsas Locas, supplying her delicious creations to both grocery stores and schools. Her dream of creating a sit-down restaurant to share her family’s culinary traditions culminated in the opening of La Patroncita.

La Patroncita’s menu is a delightful fusion of time-honored recipes and innovative creations, lovingly prepared with the freshest ingredients. Standout dishes include enchiladas, quesabirria, and esquites, all served on their signature pink handmade tortillas emblazoned with the restaurant’s logo. For dessert, guests can indulge in buñuelos—a flat, fried, cinnamon-coated dough reminiscent of Lucy’s South Texas upbringing.

The beverage menu is equally impressive, featuring colorful cocktails with unique names. One of the drinks to try is the “Chica Fresa,” an espresso martini with tequila that offers a delightful twist on a classic. Other must-try drinks include their handcrafted margaritas and mezcal-based concoctions that pair perfectly with their flavorful dishes.

Beyond serving delectable dishes, La Patroncita is committed to fostering a sense of community and belonging in Portland. Lucy believes in creating opportunities for others, just as she was given the chance to pursue her dreams. The restaurant celebrates diversity, embraces inclusivity, and provides a platform for local talent to shine. Their staff, carefully selected and trained, ensure that every guest experiences the warmth and hospitality that define Mexican culture.

The La Patroncita space itself is designed to be as inviting as the food, with vibrant decor, warm lighting, and artistic elements that pay homage to Mexican heritage. For those who are planning an intimate gathering, a holiday company party, or a birthday celebration, La Patroncita offers the ideal space to make your event memorable. Their team not only welcomes their space to events but also assists with planning and customization, ensuring that every event is special.

La Patroncita is located at 2832 SE Belmont St., Portland, OR 97214. The restaurant operates from Tuesday to Thursday, 5 PM. to 10 PM and from Friday to Saturday, 4 PM. to 10 PM Reservations are highly recommended, especially during weekends, to ensure you get a taste of their renowned dishes and cocktails.
