The Witcher Season 3 is yet to hit Netflix next year, but season four news has the show making the rounds online.
Netflix announced Saturday that Henry Cavill will be leaving the role of Geralt of Rivia after the show’s third season.
Instead, the Witcher will be played by Liam Hemsworth.
The announcement
Henry Cavill released a statement addressing the news, saying:
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.”
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”
“As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”

The Witcher is a show that mainly focuses on Andrzej Sapkwoski’s books.
In 2021, the Geralt of Rivia actor said he plans to push through with the pitch series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich had in mind.
“Absolutely,” said Cavill last year when asked about staying for at least seven seasons.
“As long as we can keep telling great stories which honor Sapkowski’s work.”
The change comes after Henry Cavill’s return to DC as Superman, appearing in the Black Adam mid-credit scene.
Cavill will also star as Sherlock Holmes in Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes 2, released on November 4.

Following the Witcher announcement, Hemsworth said he was “over the moon” to take on the role of Geralt of Rivia.
He released a statement following the announcement, saying, “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt.”
“(And) I’m honoured [sic] that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blade for the next chapter of his adventure.”
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character,” Hemsworth continued.
“I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
