Harry Potter actors and author pay tribute to Robbie Coltrane

Last Friday, the Muggle world wept when it was announced that the actor behind Hogwarts’ beloved gamekeeper, Robbie Coltrane, has passed away.
The news broke the hearts of many and the cast of the Harry Potter films joined the world in paying tribute to Coltrane.
Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Radcliffe, who has become synonymous with his Harry Potter persona, has described Coltrane as one of the funniest people he has met.
According to the actor, Coltrane couldn’t stop making the young cast members laugh on set.
“I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up,” said Radcliffe.
“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”
Emma Watson
The Hermione Granger actress took to Instagram to honor Robbie Coltrane and shared a photo of them.
“Robbie was the most fun uncle I’ve ever had,” she wrote.
“His talent was so immense it made sense he played a giant – he could fill ANY space with his brilliance.
“Robbie, if I ever get to be so kind as you were to me on a film set I promise I’ll do it in your memory.”

Tom Felton
Despite playing rival Draco Malfoy, Tom Felton has had a close bond with many of his co-stars, Coltrane included.
He also posted on Instagram, writing:
“One of my fondest memories of filming Harry Potter was a night shoot on the first film in the forbidden forest. I was 12.”
“Robbie cared & looked after everyone around of him. Effortlessly. And made them laugh. Effortlessly.”
“He was a big friendly giant on screen but even more so in real life.”
Warwick Davis
Warwick Davis, who also played the roles of Professor Filius Flitwick and the goblin Hook Hook in the films, described the late Robbie Coltrane as always “jovial.”
He also said Coltrane “brought warmth, light and laughter to any set he walked on to.”
JK Rowling
The Harry Potter author herself shared a heartfelt message on Twitter, saying: “I’ll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again.”
“He was an incredible talent, a complete one off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him.”
“I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all his children.”

Robbie Coltrane
Earlier this year, HBO Max released a special called “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” which would be the last time Robbie Coltrane appears in any media.
During the special, he shared happy memories with the young stars.
“Watching them grow up was kind of like watching your own kids growing up, you know? Because you were sort of protecting them,” he said.
“I was always astonished at how fearless they were.”
One of his memorable quotes from the reunion will be something many millennials won’t soon forget.
“The legacy of these movies is that my children’s generation will show them to their children,” said Coltrane.
“So, you could be watching them in 50 years’ time, easy. I’ll not be here sadly… But Hagrid will.”
