Revisiting The History Of Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Oregon Ducks

The Alabama Crimson Tide has dominated the college football landscape under Nick Saban since he came aboard in 2007. Still, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks have also enjoyed their own success.

Alabama and Ohio State are two of the nation’s elite football programs, and they’ll stay that way for many years. The Crimson Tide won the national titles in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2020.

The Buckeyes won the National Championship in 2014, reaching the big game again in 2020. However, they were no match for the dynastic Crimson Tide, who soundly defeated Ohio State 52-24 in the championship contest.

Oregon was fairly close to becoming a dynasty under legendary head coach Chip Kelly and his successor, Mark Helfrich. Instead, the 2010 squad finished 12-1 and reached the BCS National Championship Game, where they narrowly fell to Cam Newton’s Auburn Tigers 22-19.

Though the Ducks have fallen out of National Championship contention over the years, they remain a consistent winner and fixture in the college bowl series. They finished 10-4 years ago, losing to Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl.

With the 2022 college season underway, it’s a fun time to look back on the underrated yet rich history between the two elite college football programs.

The Last Ducks-Buckeyes Meeting: Anthony Brown Leads Oregon To Stunning Upset
On Sept. 11 of last year, Oregon and Ohio State met at Ohio Stadium in a highly-anticipated contest — the first meeting between the teams since the 2015 National Championship Game (more on that later).

Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud turned in a remarkable performance, completing 35 passes for 484 yards and three touchdowns. But the Buckeyes’ defense had little answer for Oregon QB Anthony Brown (236 yards, two touchdowns, 65 rushing yards on 10 carries) or the Ducks rushing offense.

The Ducks racked up 269 yards and three touchdowns on the ground (38 total carries). C.J. Verdell led the way with 161 yards and two rushing scores (averaging 8.1 yards per carry).

Three different Buckeyes went over 100 yards receiving on the day: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (145 yards), and 2022 first-round NFL draft picks Chris Olave (126 yards) and Garrett Wilson (117 yards).

Verdell, who also hauled in a 14-yard TD reception, scored Oregon’s first three touchdowns on the day. Ohio State outscored Oregon 14-7 in the final quarter, but Verone McKinley III ended the Buckeyes’ rally by intercepting Stroud with less than three minutes to go.

Oregon melted most of the clock and held on for a thrilling 35-28 win. It was just one of two losses for the Buckeyes on the year, with the other coming against No. 5 ranked Michigan on Nov. 27.

It was oh-so-sweet revenge for a Ducks team that dropped a memorable heartbreaker to Oregon nearly seven years earlier.

2015: Buckeyes Dominate Ducks To Win School’s Eighth National Title

Led by Helfrich and star quarterback Marcus Mariota (the No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft), the Ducks returned to the Championship Game in 2014.

Awaiting them in the big dance was a Buckeyes team that went 14-1 Buckeyes. Coached by Urban Meyer, a two-time National Champion at Florida, the Buckeyes were especially loaded on offense.

The Ducks just had no answer for a team featuring future two-time NFL rushing champ Ezekiel Elliott, 2019 Offensive Player of the Year Michael Thomas and Detroit Lions standout offensive tackle Taylor Decker.

The Buckeyes were led by future Los Angeles Chargers superstar defensive end Joey Bosa and future pro defensive backs in Vonn Bell and Eli Apple on defense.

Meyer’s Buckeyes cruised to an easy 42-20 win over Oregon in the National Championship Game. Elliott powered the way with 246 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries. This remains the Buckeyes’ most recent National Championship to date.

How College Dorm Party is an Important Phase of Life?

College dorm party planning, like any party, is a lot of work. From budgeting to finding people to help you with setup and clean up, there are many different things to think about. The first step in planning your party is deciding who’s invited. If it’s just for friends or for a group of people in your dorm, you only need an invitation sent through Facebook or email.

If you want it to be more public, then make some posters and post them around the campus. College life is full of surprises, but one very surprising party stands out in particular. The dormitory party is a staple of college life. It’s something that everyone seems to have experienced at some point or another and something that almost everyone looks forward to doing at some point as they enter their freshman year. The origin of the party can be traced back to when college students would invite their non-college friends over for an array of food and drink.

A little while after they entered college, people would be allowed to have parties, and since making it to college wasn’t an easy task, everyone wanted to celebrate. College dorm parties often included things like pizza and all the beers you could drink.

Why College dorm party so fun?

College dorm parties are one of the best parts of college life. It’s a great way to celebrate the milestone of being able to live in your own place without parents and it gives you a chance to show people your new home and make them a part of your environment.

It’s a fun way to bring people together, especially if you’ve just met some of the people in your dorm or live in close proximity. It is also a great way to show off your new home. A college dorm party is a great way to make people feel welcome, and hey, they might actually help you get through the 1st month without homesickness.

Clean-up can be a pain. College dorm parties can be a nice end to the week and are great for acquaintances. However, it really is hard to get things back together afterward. Cleaning up after a party can often be the highlight of cleaning week at school.

You’ve probably seen older students in your dorm making big messes and somehow not having a single broken glass or paper plate to clean up. You can often see them on a Saturday morning, completely covered in garbage, trying to hand-wash dishes. It is a huge pain to clean up after a party.

What should you not bring to a dorm?

A lot of people bring a whole lot of stuff. Soft drinks, food, drinks, and general garbage can create a huge mess. People love to bring, like – many people, too much stuff all at once and it is hard to keep track of everything that has been brought.

You should know what you can and cannot bring to a college dorm party. Bringing to a dorm room a bunch of stuff you wouldn’t really use can really get old very quickly. It’s best to bring things that you will actually use in the dorm.

1. Clothes

Clothes that are not meant to be worn in the dorm should never be brought. You may bring a few shoes, but you should limit yourself to four shoes at most.

2. Food

Bring some food, but nothing extravagant. It’s okay to bring a pizza, but it is not okay to bring a house full of your food. You can consider bringing some snacks, but nothing that you would not want to eat in the dorm.

3. Drinks

Bring some drinks if you want to. Make sure they are in cans or some form of plastic. You don’t want to be drinking and breaking stuff.

4. Towels

You are not supposed to bring towels to the dorm room, but sometimes you can get away with it. You may be able to sneak one in if you bring it clear on top of your backpack. If you catch an RA checking your backpack, just say it is your pajamas. If you want to bring a towel, do not wrap it in a big plastic bag. It will look suspicious.

5. Toiletries

If you bring any toiletries, make sure they are those that can be found in the dorm. Doing this will show that you have taken care of yourself by not bringing too many toiletries.

6. Garbage

You should only bring what is needed. Think about how much garbage you are bringing to the party. You probably don’t want to bring a huge plastic bag full of garbage that would be hard to dispose of.

What else you can do at the dorm party for fun?

There are many things that people like to do at college to have fun. Watching movies in the dorm is a nice way to pass time when you don’t have classes or after your classes end. Going out and seeing friends is something many people like to do as well. However, college dorm parties are ones that a lot of people remember fondly. The memories of firsts and milestones that make college life special are things that always stick out in your brain. It was a fun time to be a part of. It is also one of the coolest parts of college, and something that everyone will look back on fondly.

There are many things that you can do in your dorm to have fun, but if you want to make your college years really special and memorable, invest some time in throwing a great party. It’s always worth it and is something that you can look back on and smile about.

Can friends spend the night in your dorm?

You can ask your roommates to spend the night in your dorm if they are friends. You do not have to explain the reason, but you should bring it up at the end of the year when it is time for everyone to pay up the rent.

Obviously, if you have a lot of friends, you may have to let some people spend the night if you don’t want to personally pay for every friend that wants to visit. It’s nice when your friends come to visit and stay over in the dorm.

Conclusion

A College dorm party can be one of the best things that you will ever experience. It is a time when you get to see your friends and spend time with them while celebrating your new lifestyle in college. It is definitely a great experience that you should not miss out on.
