Portland’s Best New Brunches for 2023 That You Need to Try

Brunch is a special meal that combines the best of breakfast and lunch, and Portland is known for its fantastic brunch scene. With new restaurants and cafes popping up, keeping track of the city’s latest and greatest brunch spots can take a lot of work.

That’s why we’ve compiled a list of Portland’s best new brunches for 2023 that you need to try.

1. Screen Door

Even though this popular spot has two locations, the wait can be excruciating. The brunch menu at Screen Door rarely lets people down.

Try the braised pork shoulder eggs Benedict, or ask a friend to help you eat the massive plate of crunchy fried chicken breasts stacked on a sweet potato waffle. Fresh ingredients like heirloom tomatoes and peaches are featured in the specials that change with the seasons. Add praline bacon or cheesy grits to your meal to make it even better.

2. Biscuits & Gravy

Biscuits & Gravy is a casual and welcoming restaurant that specializes in, you guessed it, biscuits and gravy. But don’t let the name fool you – this spot offers a wide variety of brunch dishes that will please any palate.

Their biscuits are made from scratch every morning and are served with various toppings, including sausage gravy, mushroom gravy, and even vegan gravy.

If biscuits aren’t your favorite, try their breakfast burrito, chicken, and waffles. Biscuits & Gravy is located in the trendy Mississippi neighborhood and has a laid-back vibe that makes it the perfect spot for a lazy weekend brunch.

3. Jojo

Jojo could be Portland’s first restaurant that changes its menu every three months. What started as a popular food truck serving fried potatoes, burgers, and sandwiches is now a beautiful restaurant in the Pearl District serving the same things.

For its new weekend brunch, the owner Justin Hintze made a menu that was almost as crazy as his social media persona.

Think about the Brussels sprouts hash that is fried. The Jojo breakfast sandwich, American and cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and sambal mayo on toasted milk bread, is another popular breakfast food.

Jojo didn’t come up with the idea of putting fried potatoes in a sandwich, but their version is so good that you’ll wonder why this differs from how all sandwiches are made.

4. The Brunch Box

If you’re looking for a brunch spot that’s a little more on the indulgent side, look no further than The Brunch Box. This restaurant is known for its massive breakfast sandwiches, made with two slices of French toast or biscuits and piled high with eggs, bacon, sausage, and more.

Their menu also includes a variety of sweet and savory waffles and classic brunch dishes like eggs Benedict and pancakes. The Brunch Box has two locations in Portland – one in the Pearl.

District and one in the Mississippi neighborhood – so you can satisfy your brunch cravings no matter where you are in the city.

Conclusion

These new brunch spots are some of the best in Portland and worth visiting. Whether you’re in the mood for something healthy and fresh or indulgent and hearty, a brunch spot on this list will satisfy your cravings.

So grab some friends, wear stretchy pants, and prepare for brunch through Portland in 2023.
