Warner Bros.

Since Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, Henry Cavill’s Superman has been the subject of debate.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was unfairly bombed by critics, leaving Cavill and the Justice League movie unsafe from backlash.

Joss Whedon’s takeover of the film after Snyder’s departure only put the DCEU in a more awkward position.

Warner Bros. moved between companies like AT&T and Discovery, but Snyder’s influence was still felt on the DC projects that followed his exit.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman won over fans and received sequels.

The Flash movie is due to be released next year.

Ben Affleck’s Batman, initially criticized and then deservedly praised, also returns.

Meanwhile, the long-awaited Snyder Cut, later dubbed Zack Snyder’s Justice League, breathed new life into HBO Max.

A Man of Steel sequel had been shelved and rumored to never appear in favor of a new Superman movie.

The rumors left a sense of desperation until Dwayne Johnson stepped in.

Black Adam gives Henry Cavill a boost

Dwayne Johnson revealed that the Black Adam team was frustrated that Walter Hamada refused a Superman cameo.

However, Johnson was full of praise for Henry Cavill and described him as a “great” and “beloved” Superman.

He also highlights how Cavill loves the Superman mythology and knows the character deeply.

“And then on top of that, the most important thing is, fans love him as Superman,” said Johnson.

“He’s been on the sideline for five years, and no one’s talking about it!”

The Man of Steel’s return

Henry Cavill’s cameo in Black Adam inspired Warner Bros. executives to bring the actor back to DC projects.

A Man of Steel sequel is reportedly in development, with producer Charles Roven also returning.

In Black Adam’s mid-credit scene, Superman steps out of the shadows in Black Adam to confront Khandaq’s champion.

The scene also used John Williams’ original theme from the 1978 movie Superman.

The music selection raises fans’ hopes for Henry Cavill’s return as the Man of Steel.
