In the industry of professional education for doctors, a quiet revolution has been taking place, led by a figure who, just a few years ago, might have been an unlikely candidate for the role. Dr. Faustino da Rosa Junior, a former lawyer with a passion for technology, has turned his sights on an industry that, until recently, seemed resistant to change. His platform, FGMED, is now the largest provider of continuing medical education in Brazil, and he’s not stopping there.

When you meet Dr. Faustino, it’s hard not to be struck by his calm demeanor, which belies the ambition and drive that have fueled his success. “I’ve always been someone who looks for solutions,” he begins, reflecting on his transition from law to tech. “Law taught me to think critically, to analyze situations from all angles. But technology—technology offered a way to create solutions on a much larger scale.”

FGMED was born from this mindset. Founded in 2016, the platform was designed to address a specific problem: the lack of accessible, high-quality educational resources for doctors in Brazil, particularly those in remote areas. “Medical professionals need to stay updated—it’s not optional,” Dr. Faustino explains. “But in a country as vast as Brazil, getting access to the latest information can be a real challenge. We built FGMED to change that.”

And change it did. FGMED quickly became a go-to resource for doctors across Brazil, offering courses and materials that could be accessed anytime, anywhere. “What we’re offering isn’t just convenience,” Dr. Faustino says. “It’s about providing the right tools to ensure that doctors can deliver the best care possible. That’s what drives me.”

The success of FGMED in Brazil has naturally led to thoughts of expansion. Dr. Faustino is clear-eyed about the challenges of entering the U.S. market, but he’s also excited about the possibilities. “The U.S. is an entirely different landscape,” he notes. “It’s more mature, with a lot of established players. But that also means there’s a real appetite for innovation. If we can offer something that genuinely adds value, there’s a lot of potential.”

One of the key lessons Dr. Faustino has learned from FGMED’s success in Brazil is the importance of understanding the local market. “You can’t just copy and paste a business model from one country to another,” he says. “You have to adapt—understand the needs, the regulations, the culture. That’s something we’re very focused on as we move into the U.S.”

But while the expansion is a big focus, Dr. Faustino hasn’t lost sight of FGMED’s original mission. “At the end of the day, it’s about making a difference in people’s lives,” he says. “Whether that’s in Brazil, the U.S., or anywhere else, the goal is the same: to ensure that medical professionals have the knowledge they need to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.”

As we wrap up our conversation, it’s clear that Dr. Faustino’s journey is just beginning. His work with FGMED is already having a profound impact on medical education in Brazil, and with his sights set on new horizons, there’s no telling how far he’ll go. “There’s so much more to do,” he says with a thoughtful smile. “But that’s what makes it exciting.”

Dr. Faustino da Rosa Junior is a visionary, and someone who’s deeply committed to improving the world through technology. And as FGMED continues to grow, so too does the impact of his work, one doctor—and one patient—at a time.
