DC Studios officially appoints James Gunn and Peter Safran as new co-chairmen and CEOs after searching for a replacement for Walter Hamada.
DC Studios
The announcement makes Gunn and Safran the leaders overseeing all future DC production.
Their additional responsibilities include creating the decade-long roadmap for DC projects in film, television, and animation.
Gunn and Safran will ensure that each project is under the same banner.
DC Extended Universe
The Batgirl movie was canceled even though it was in post-production.
The decision came from Warner Bros. Discovery renewal for their essential IPs after the merging of the company.
The merger was why former DC Films president Walter Hamada stepped down from office.
James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new roles fill the void Hamada left.

James Gunn
Gunn arrived in DC and took over The Suicide Squad, which earned him critical and fan praise.
The film was success and led to the equally successful Peacemaker series on HBO Max.
Both projects reached milestones that launched the approval for the second season of Peacemaker.
A spin-off series is in development revolving around Amanda Waller with Viola Davis.
James Gunn’s new role at DC Studios means he will oversee DC Films and pave the way for a more cohesive cinematic universe.
Peter Safran
Safran has been producing DC projects for several years.
Two of his most significant contributions include Aquaman and Shazam!
Both films were successful at the box office as DC tried to distance itself from the Snyderverse.
Peter Safran was the executive producer on Gunn’s Peacemaker and produced The Suicide Squad with his Co-Chair.
He is currently producing upcoming projects like Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
