In recent years, many television programs have taken on a more grim and bleak tone, especially with the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, this feeling of hopelessness has permeated into the viewers, and many people are desperately looking for a change of pace. Fortunately, an uplifting TV movie presented by Kathy Ireland is gracing the small screen, The Waltons’ Homecoming.
Sam Haskell, the Chair and President of Magnolia Hill Productions at Warner Bros and Emmy award-winning producer, is at the helm of the production. Joining him is a stellar and talented cast, including Bellamy Young, Ben Lawson, Logan Shroyer. In addition, Richard Thomas, the original John Boy, lends his voice as the narrator.
Seven-time Grammy Award-winners Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. also appear in the movie as Sister Harriett and Brother William. Additionally, the pair brings extraordinary music to the film with their rendition of “Silent Night,” which was released by Watertower Music on November 29.
The 2021 presentation is a reboot of the critically acclaimed 1971 film, The Homecoming: A Christmas Story. Its release could not have come at a better time as the classic movie celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
When asked what motivated her to pursue the project, Kathy Ireland insightfully shared, “There is so much programming in the world today that fails to encourage hope. After a challenging year, The Waltons’ Homecoming is our gift to America.”
She also added nothing but praise for her dear friend and the executive producer of The Waltons’ Homecoming, Sam Haskell, “There is no one more talented or appropriate to bring this message into our homes on Thanksgiving weekend than Sam Haskell, whose accomplishments in television are legendary and iconic. To know Sam is to trust him and love him.”
